THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]

Themeless Monday here to start your week off right. Enjoy!
Looking for more puzzles? The Hub Crossword (Sunday puzzles by me and Emily Cox and Henry Rathvon) and Marching Bands year seven have begun. So if that To Do list needs even more puzzles, you know what to do.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
The real “Pistol Pete” was Pete Maravich. But you are likely too young to have heard of him.
@Glinda, I’m only maybe five years older than Brendan, but Maravich is where my mind went first too.
I had a few Naticks in the SW which are a little more obvious on review, but the relative neologism at 60D did not help.
Tougher than usual clues, I thought. Or maybe I’m just cold. Thank you, Brendan!
tougher, indeed – but brought challenge and, eventually, pleasure
Clue for 12D is classic Quigley! Thanks for yet another fun and challenging Monday themeless.
Fun puzzle, thanks! A bit of a Natick for me in the SW, but otherwise lots of good fill.
Extra Hard. 95% of the time I can finish BEQ Mon/Thur without hints. Not this one!
A dovetail joint has pins and tails. A tenon is part of a mortise and tenon joint.
Hmmm .. I didn’t even notice that clue. That *is* a new one. Gotta look it up.
Jim, see https://hillbillydaiku.com/2015/12/15/blind-dovetail-thru-mortise-and-tenon/ .
Jim, also see defs 1 and 2 of “dovetail” from the Random House Unabridged Dictionary:
1. a tenon broader at its end than at its base; pin.
2. a joint formed of one or more such tenons fitting tightly within corresponding mortises.
A diagram accompanies def 2.
