THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
Oh, the 14 letter word. The bastard child of the crossword world. It’s just not big enough to stretch across the traditionally-sized 15×15 canvas. It will never be seen with a black square chaperone. And as such, its appearance in a grid invariavbly makes L-shaped fingers an appearance. Even worse, some snooty folk call those cheaters. And for whatever reason, puzzlemakers tend to look down at cheaters. As if using an extra black square doesn’t make you worthy enough. (I am guilty of that at times too.) And so, 14 letter words hardly ever make an appearance in themelesses. Well, when you’ve got two juicy answers that are both 14 letters long, you just have to use them. Cheaters be damned. Enjoy.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.
42D was worth the price of admission.
Your puzzles are literally my favorite part of every Monday.
RTS and QRCODES got me with the R, only mistake and it was a guess. Borderline Natick for me. But loved the puzzle. Average time for a Monday.
Oh, and you have a career of breaking the rules. Use all the 14 letter answers you want, enjoyed them both.
I know it was all about 49A, and while I love 49A, for me it was all about 19A … and the fact they are both 14 letters.
