In honor of November 11, 2011, you know I had to make an 11×11 puzzle, right? With this theme, right? Good. You’ve all been paying attention.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
Uh, what’s going on here? XWP looks considerably squatter than usual. Now I see the gimmick of the X. and ok there. This after getting clobbered by the THUNYTXWP. Hardest example of one in probably a year. Took about 14 to 16 min. to see the point of that one. It might be harder than the upcoming FRI or SAT. If you can identify my biweekly middle name for today, than you deserve the $250,000 or $500,000 amount on WWTBAMillionaire?. Or better yet, the $1,000,000 since no multiple choice is provided. Same time period is all the hint I’m providing.
Very cute. Enjoyed it. Thx.
Ha! Love it! And, my quickest BEQ solve ever. 3:37.
But now I’m gonna have “Hell Hole” running through my head all day.
A relevant question/teaser for you all: What B-movie actress makes a cameo appearance in the movie as one of the band’s groupies?
What I don’t get is why the American Film Institute did not include “These go to eleven” in its list of 100 greatest movie quotes.
Finished the puzzle, turned on the TV this afternoon, and there it was! Of course I had to watch it again. Thanks, BEQ! Like Firesign Theater, you hear something new every time….
Fun one one!
The “Queen of the B’s” actress who made a cameo appearance in the movie was Linnea Quigley.
Tufnel trivia: A while back I exchanged emails with Harry Shearer regarding the origins of the name “Tufnel.” It’s always explained as having been taken from the name of a small park somewhere in London. Bo-RING. Especially as I happen to know from intimate experience that the name of the manufacturer of the circuit chassis for Marshall 100-watt heads is… TUFNEL! So i asked Shearer, cuz I’d been in touch with him about something else, whether that wasn’t in fact the real source of the name. Alas… no, it was taken from a small park somewhere in London. “But your explanation is much cooler by far–wish we’d known!”
Slightly less trivial: in honor of Nigel, the JCM 800 head had a gain control that went to 11. But apparently that wasn’t enough because for the next model, the 900, the gain went to 20. That’s 9 more ‘n eleven innit!
