ACROSS LITE PUZZLE: [ THEMELESS MONDAY]

PRINTOUT PUZZLE: [ THEMELESS MONDAY]
PROGRAM: [Adobe Acrobat]
After giving it some thought over the weekend, I’ve decided to experiment with the Friday puzzles henceforth. Much like how Mondays have become more-often-than-not Themeless Mondays, I’d like Friday to be the co-construction/audience participation puzzles. (More often than not, because, you know, life gets in the way sometimes.) As a heads up, I’ll be fielding suggestions from you on Wednesday, so, if you’d like to be involved, please follow me on Twitter or Facebook. Contributors with the best suggestions will be referenced in the Friday posts.
Also, thanks to Anne and Catherine from all the way down under for conducting this interview.
Share the puzzle. New one on Wednesday.
Challenging for me. Top half was fine, but no idea about MANTELET, STU, ANNE, so SE was rough til I just guessed the second part of ICE SHOWS. Also, MISTAKABLE? Never heard it used. UNMISTAKABLE, yes. RUSH AT instead of LASH AT really gummed up the SW.
Surprised you’d let something like LER into your puzzles. Seems like it should be on some kind of Banned For Life list.

PS ESURIENT???? Whoa.
BEQ is crafty. Always getting and giving the unexpected. Hooked you up per your request. Well deserved!
started out a medium but quickly became a hard. more x-ese than i’m used to in your puzzles, but lots of good stuff to balance it out.
Medium was about right for me – Had the same stumbling blocks as Rex – and the Harry Potter stuff is just not in my wheelhouse. Was proud to nail most of the long downs (enlistee, cult status, ice shows, Afro pick) with no crosses. Fun puzzle.
Medium? MEDIUM??! Where do you get off calling this mutha a medium, BEQ?
Actually, I think we should all quit commenting on the stated difficulty. It is what it is and I’m just happy that Brendon provides them for our enjoyment. We ought decide for ourselves the level of difficulty and tell Brendon what we think of the puzzle itself.
When I saw 1A was “Quote part 4?” I knew it was gonna be serious fun. You can’t just throw quote segments in willy-nilly, can you? I had a lot of forehead-slapping moments going through this one and when I couldn’t find any more parts of the quote, I knew I’d been slimed again.
Thanks, BEQ.
Hated LER. Debated about using the Primus guy as a clue. Probably should have.
No, thank you, Chuck
There’s a reason for the x-ese, believe it or not.
Thanks Jannie.
Nancy Schuster confirmed it was a Medium, so tie goes to my head test solver.
That was my favorite clue – knew we were in for a fun ride.
no way that’s medium. either that or i lost some brain cells celebrating the Yankees’ win. whew that puzzle kicked my butt.
I can’t believe I’ve never heard the word pluvial. It’s pretty pluvial here in Portland. Also I’m going to use the word esurient every day from now on. I thought “anytime”, “if you can” and “it’s easy” seemed somehow passive/agressive. All three are phrases I might say to my boyfriend when trying to get him to mow the lawn. These puzzles really make my (Mon, Tues, Wednes) day. Thanks!
I had an a-ha moment when I had ______WS for 34D and brilliantly entered SALCHOWS.
Felt pretty smart until the oops moment a little later….
Combine those subtle urgings with “please” “tip”, and you’ve got Brendan’s mini-theme!
…hat tip to Amy’s commenters. I thought someone should mention it on this site.
Good call. And clearly, I meant aggressive. Why I can’t spell without spell check is a huge annoyance.
