NOTE: Once this crossword grid is correctly completed, the puzzle then becomes a word search puzzle wherein the names of ten comic strips are hidden throughout.

This one’s a repeat from my Time Out days. Hope you enjoy it. Sorry I haven’t been verbose these past couple days but the Interweb up here in the Redwoods is dodgy to say the least, I’m lucky if I’m able to be online long enough to post this stuff. And don’t remind me that I have no cell phone. (Who’s the city slicker?) Anyway, this’ll hafta do until I’m back to civilization.
SLAYER!!!
I rated 4 stars. But, now that I’m doing the word search, I’d like to upgrade that to 5 stars. I’ve found seven strips so far, including BC. Does that count?
Ah, BC! That gives me 8. Will the list be revealed?
All right, I think I have all ten.
I’m going to list these in one long string just in case those who do not want to see the comic strips accidentally can’t avert their eyes for a split second.

Carry on… 🙂
Ah! Just visited Amy’s blog and there is also ANNIE. I dismissed that one as the strip was call “Little Orphan Annie”. Then I just remembered that, after the success of the Broadway musical, the strip’s title was shortened to “Annie”.
So that makes 11. Perhaps the inclusion of BC was accidental.
Answers? BEQ? Beuller?
I’m sad that one of my personal faves, Lio, is nowhere to be found. Same goes for Mr. Boffo.
People are underrating this puzzle. I think some (though surely not all) missed the theme or didn’t get it until after they rated. I thought it was pretty good, not exceptional, until I got the “Strip Search” concept. Brilliant. Normally I don’t like the post-solve payoff, but this concept is fresh, and you didn’t have to resort to (too much 🙂 bad fill to do it.
RCN?

it’s two, two, two puzzles in one!
I really liked this one, though I missied BC and have never heard of Dot. However, years ago, I got to hear Howard Nemerov read his poetry. That was a nice treat to see in a crossword.
