THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
[ FULLSCREEN]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
This puzzle was brought to you by the mad lads of Boswords, who were kind enough to let me write one of their themelesses for their Fall Themeless league. This was the harder of the three versions, with one minor change where I moved my favorite clue from another version into this one’s. No points for guessing which one it was, but since you asked, it’s 38-Across. That’s the kind of clue you write and, if you’re so inclined, you light yourself a cigarette to enjoy after having composed it. No, I didn’t smoke a cigarette, I gave up that habit in ’06. But don’t worry, I still have plenty of other habits. Anyway, shout outs to John Lieb, Andrew Kingsley, and Brad Wilber for running it, and letting me run it here. Do yourselves a favor, will ya, and sign up for some of their events after doign this, will ya? Thanks. And tell ’em Brendan sent ya.
Today will be the last mention of the end of the year drive. Huge, heartfelt thanks to everybody who chipped in. It really does help the site run smoothly. Please, get in touch if you’ve chipped in an never got your bonus puzzles.
For the rest of you, one last time. The quick pitch is as follows: the site remains free, please enjoy the puzzles guilt-free. However, if you’ve been enjoying the work and you’ve got a couple of extra beans in your pocket, it does help with some administrative costs. Suggested donation of $20, please and thank you, through PayPal or Venmo preferred, but there’s always Zelle (to the email in the “get in touch” link coming up), checks, hell I’ll take crypto. Get in touch. Long form appeal is here.
One randomly selected donor will recieve a copy of a book of mine that I don’t want anymore. No guarantees that it’s a book that I wrote, nor a puzzle book. But you know, sometimes the bookshelves get inundated. Anyway, that randomly selected donor will be announced on Thursday.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.

What a beaut! Hard to crack the NE, but worth it.
