You’d be hard-pressed to find a prouder papa than your’s truly yesterday when his star daughter handed him this tour de force puzzle. A Tabitha-written variety cryptic? With an &lit clue at the start of it all? Be still my beating heart. Things can’t be much better than that.
Or, maybe they could be. Shout out to Alan Connor at the Guardian for the name drop in his latest article making the case to solve American crosswords. Convincing British solvers to tackle American-style puzzles is as challenging if not harder than convincing American solvers to try cryptics. At least in North America there’s already a (puny) market for those puzzles. In the UK, the closest thing you get to American puzzles are quick crosswords, and well, they’re not nearly as entertaining. Honestly, they look like kid’s restaurant placemat puzzles. And so the struggle continues. But if you’re new here, pour yourself a beer and make yourself at home. There’s always room on the BEQ bandwagon.
Share the puzzle. New one on Thursday.

Solid puzzle. Liked.
I wish the clue for 23A would have been “Megyn Kelly claims she’s covered in it”. Great puzzle nonetheless!
