Reader Brian Carroll of San Francisco brought to my attention this money shot quote from an article from yesterday’s International Herald Tribune. The feature was about San Francisco Giants closer Brian Wilson. Before I get to the quote, a couple things surprised me about the article.
One: that’s either the coolest or most unfortunately-named athlete, ever, entirely dependent on how much you like “Pet Sounds.” Looking at the picture of said Mr. Wilson, specifically focusing on that beard, I’d say he most definitely likes “Pet Sounds.”
Two: was anyone else surprised the New York Times/IHT had a sports section? Just me?
Okay, Brian Wilson’s money shot:
“Iād like to be a crossword clue one day,” he said. “I want to be in The New York Times’s Sunday edition. Right now, the clue ‘Giants great’ is always Mel Ott. I want my clue to be down, not across. The down ones are usually harder. And when I’m the clue, I’ll fill it in ā just that one ā and frame it.“How sweet would that be?”
In the odd chance you read this, Brian, I’ve already covered this topic before and made that puzzle.
Share the puzzle. New one tomorrow.
