Sherman Alexie says some crazy things. He once compared yours truly and Rex Parker to Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, without bothering to explain who’s playing the small forward position. He often emails me humorous anecdotes about how the theme of that day’s New York Times puzzle was beyond his ken. The latest:
“So I finished the puzzle so fast yesterday, even for a Wednesday, and was feeling good about myself, but could NOT figure out what “pi day” meant. Even with the three, point, one, four clue-answers filled, I could not figure it out. I kept thinking pi as in “Philippines Islands” or as in “private investigator” or as in “apple pie.” Just lost. And then my older son walked by and said “Happy Pi Day, Dad.” And then I realized. Oh, shit. 3.14….PI Day…..shit….damn….hang my head in shame….
He was even kind enough to provide a quote for the jacket of my latest book “Sex, Drugs & Rock ‘n’ Roll Crosswords.” (Pre-order yr. copy today.) With a huge fan/friend like that, it was probably high time I made him the theme of a puzzle. Enjoy.
Share the puzzle. New one on Monday.
