ACROSS LITE PUZZLE: [ CHARACTER STUDY]

PRINTOUT PUZZLE: [ CHARACTER STUDY]
PROGRAM: [Adobe Acrobat]
Contest time here at the BEQ headquarters. Fill in the grid then send me your answer to the question posed in the puzzle in an e-mail/tweet/Facebook message/carrier pigeon/singing telegram/Vulcan mind meld/whatever. No need for the grid, just the answer. Please don’t put the answer in the comments section. That’s the only place I am not accepting entries. And unlike last time where I only took the first three correct answers I received (which I promptly got mere minutes after the post went live), this time everybody who answers it correctly is going into the pot. I’m picking the winners Monday morning just before I post the next puzzle. And to sweeten the deal, if I have any sorts of proof that you’ve promoted the site (not necessarily this post per se, any part of the damnfool site) via tweets/e-mails/additional printouts/”The Manchurian Candidate”-style brainwashing/whatever, your name’s going in the pot ten times.
We’re picking five winners, and once again, the prize is either your choice of any book I’ve written or my choice of something from my condo I don’t want anymore. Best of luck to all.
When’s the submission deadline, Brendan?
Seeing as I post the stuff at 9:00 A.M., 8:59 A.M. Boston-time 7/20?
Hey, I entered a crossword contest!
Love the puzzle today, Brendan, but I’m totally stumped by the question. When it’s revealed to me, will I think you’re a real 37-across?
Ironically, I found this “hard” puzzle easier than today’s NYT and while you solved that one as if constructing, I solved this one as if it were an Acrostic.
Learned NESS and loved PRICK !
the clues for NESS and ONE PIN were awesome!
I’m with fikink–I had “elite” for ALONE, so I ended up googling the shoe and the actress to finish TX, but, as BEQ’s go, I thought this was pretty easy. The obligatory baseball players were pretty gettable through crosses, and the obligatory obscure (to me) music clues were mercifully absent.
I turned off the timer when I dl’ed the puzzle since I couldn’t do it immediately, then forgot to turn it on again, so I don’t know my time, but I’d guess Wednesday-ish (notwithstanding my getting slaughtered by the nyt this Wednesday). Thanks for the puzzles,as always. Hope to be sending an answer to the riddle before next week.
Yes, yes you did.
You’ll probably go 37-Down.
Danke.
Danke.
The obligatory baseball players. Sounds like a great band name.
This seemed easier to me this week’s Med. Wed. Now to ponder the “object.”
here’s another, completely unrelated, alt/rock band name:
the steaming divots
(what to watch out for whilst walking on the polo pitch between chukkas — http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polo#The_field)
band names: might be a good theme for a puzzle…
Um, you don’t aim for the 1-pin when bowling, and that’s not the way to get a strike. You hook the ball into either the 1-2 or the 1-3 pocket.
Correct answer to the riddle is anything that shows the alphabet. You’re welcome.
Dumb question from a first-timer: Are these the ONLY letters on the object? Can the letters appear more than once? Oops, I guess that was two questions.
If the answer is yes then there are many answers, such as a Coke can.
