What? You were expecting me to run a picture of a certain basketball player? C’mon.
Tip of the hat to Francis Heaney for assistance with this theme.
Another small reminder that the never before published bonus 21x is still up for grabs. Details are here, and after a quick visit here it’s yours. Reigning ACPT Champion Dan Feyer annihilated it in just over six minutes. Wowza.
Share the puzzle. Get the bonus one. Themeless Monday on deck.
Are we all doing the same puzzle?
No way I beat Amy…
Maybe you had a leg up on Era of ARA! I just saw him at ND, reminiscing with Lou Holtz and Gerry Faust, on a panel moderated by Regis, at reunion. It was wonderful, and they had a lot of funny stories.
I think you’ve got the wrong acronym for 20D – shouldn’t that have been “FML”? Your answer there is much more “I am awesome” than “I suck”.
yeah, i haven’t seen FTW used that way. (which isn’t to say it couldn’t be.)
FTW is less common than FML, but it stil fits the clue (Fuck The World). Also, BEQ was nice enough to include ‘my life’ in the clue, thus excluding FML as a possible answer.
Ah, so. Hadn’t heard that expansion of it before (and you’re absolutely right about the clue!).
from Urban Dictionary:

“For The Win.”
An enthusiastic emphasis to the end of a comment, message, or post. Sometimes genuine, but often sarcastic.
Originated from the game show Hollywood Squares where the result of the player’s response is expected to win the game.
In biker gangs it meant Fuck the World,
but in online usage it mainly means For the Win.
When you see FTW, don’t ever get a biker confused with a gamer or else you might be like “stfu n00b” and then get your face smashed in
