PRINTOUT PUZZLE: [ LOOKS GOOD ENOUGH TO EAT]
PROGRAM: [Adobe Acrobat]
Just saying it now: Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. How can you hate a holiday whose whole premise is built around eating? Impossible! And gluttony is practically built into the whole process. If you’re not sick to your stomach/hallucinating on tryptophan the day’s a loss. And I can guarantee that’s going to happen. I have 34 previous years of experience in those departments. Plus you throw in the football, catching up with the families, the anticipation of the December holiday season (I only like the anticipation, everything else is too commercial), all good stuff. A+ holiday.
Anyway, I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: thanks y’all for stepping up big with this blog. It’s been massively successful in my eyes. I am moved by the show of support. Thanks to all who came and did a puzzle, posted a comment, told others about the site, wrote me an e-mail saying: “I love the puzzles,” tweeted, hit up the tip jar, bought a book, bought a t-shirt, entered a contest, and/or sent a photograph of yourself pimping the ole’ BEQ. Wow. When I said y’all stepped it up big, I meant it. Give yourselves a round of applause.
Huge thanks to Nancy Schuster, Mike Nothnagel, Tyler Hinman and Joon Pahk for giving me immensely valuable feedback on all the puzzles. You guys rule. Also, huge tip of the hat to Dave Sullivan and Chuck Fisher for behind the scenes support. Can’t forget Amy Reynaldo for writing up all of the puzzles on her blog and Rex Parker for constantly singing this site’s praises. Last but not least, thanks and love to my wife Liz for the eternal support.
Share the puzzle. Have a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. New one on Black Friday.
UPDATE: I forgot I had the Onion puzzle today. So now you got two BEQ for the day. Get it here: [Across Lite] [PDF]
Hope that you and your family have a Happy Thanksgiving. I will now check out the puzzle.
Thanks for showing this holiday some respect. Too often it gets lost between Halloween and Christmas. I’ve always thought Thanksgiving needs better marketing. Thanks also, BEQ, for some of the most entertaining puzzles in cyberspace – or anywhere else for that matter.
Thanks for the puzzles, Brendan! Happy food coma to you and yours.
Happy T-day, Brendan. Pour an extra PBR over the turkey for me.
I liked this one, for a quote puzzle, but my error filled 24 across was sahwafzenegger. I was wondering who Mr or Ms Zenegger was… So sad. Kind of makes me laugh now.
thank YOU for your tireless effort.
I am thankful for this website!!!
I hope Schwarzenegger is indulging in all natural, free range, non-force fed Thanksgiving turkeys. According to a New York Times article published 11/24/03, by their eighth week of life industrially farmed turkeys are so overweight “their breasts are so large that they are unable to walk or even have sex.” Doesn’t seem natural to me.
Wah-wah…Debbie Downer here. Anyway. A hearty thanks to BEQ for the puzzles (and the feedback). You are a true inspiration to this aspiring constructor. Happy Thanksgiving!
That’s what I call alcohol abuse!
Another fantastic BEQ quote puzzle…very impressive and enjoyable.
Thanks for almost a whole year of fun…and looking forward to many more. Happy Thanksgiving to you and LIz!
Happy thanksgiving. Eat well, sleep well, and be thankful, in any order.
It certainly does take a village to launch a sustain a blog. Shall we incorporate ourselves as UzBEQistan?
Thanks for sharing your humor and talents with us and the worldwide web….
Thanks for another delightful puzzle. Best to you and yours this Thanksgiving.
Ya da man, Brendan! I get mad at myself when my life gets too busy and I have to catch up on two (or, God forbid, three!) of your puzzles at once. They’ve become a permanent fixture in my ever-worsening crossword addiction. Now, to see if I can rouse myself from my tryptophan stupor enough to complete your latest offering. And I didn’t do the Onion one earlier, so it’s a two-fer. Yippee!
