THEMELESS MONDAY: [ ACROSS LITE][ PDF]
PROGRAMS: [Across Lite] [Adobe Reader]
Fifteen letter seed entry here and then I was off to the races. I’m sure somebody will let me know who used that answer before, but having heard it so many times recently, I thought it was high time to get it in a puzzle. And there you have it.
Can I do this in thirty words? Let’s try:

57-D: “Enclosure from a collection agcy.”
46-A: “57-Down, e.g.: Abbr.” (ENCL)
One of those “it can’t be” trip-ups that cost me some time.
How many buy 23-A as accurate? I can’t say it’s at best accurate for what he was known as in the Bible.
Yeah, I had CAIN first. ESAU was a hunter.
Indeed. I checked out 23-A more. It’s an error. ESAU is repeatedly referenced as a hunter, and not as a farmer. The closest reference one could make to “fields” is Genesis 25:27 ( https://www.biblegateway.com/verse/en/Genesis%2025:27 ). Any of the translators there could not reference “fields” in terms of farming but more like “he liked to stay out in the fields”.
Even the King James references it like this: And the boys grew: and Esau was a cunning hunter, a man of the field; and Jacob was a plain man, dwelling in tents. “a man of the field” is a subordinate clause to “a cunning hunter”.
If there’s a reference to Esau farming somewhere, I’d love to see it because I sure didn’t find one.
Yah, the clue for 23-A could’ve been better.
Even so… this is an AWESOME themeless puzzle. So many cool 6- and 7-letter triple stacks. So much open space. Very little crud… nice going, Brendan!
What on earth does “Summer drive still going”, etc, mean? And what’s all that about 30 words? I am lost.
Titanium is named for the Titans (plural beings), who were not Greek gods (which is a reified term).
