for a quick 10 points, what architect with a crossword-friendly name designed the building in the photo?
Figured out the trick on that pretty fast, but still took me longer than it should’ve to finish.
Gosh would that be Ieoh Ming Pei again? Looks like one of his.
nope, not pei.
@Joon The Finnish guy eero or eliel?
I have definitely seen the $ theme before. Is puzzle a rerun?
*takes 3-Down and adds to my own database… hopes nobody notices*
It must be an old puzzle. CEO’s make more than that now.
$ert designed the Harvard $cience Center.
The building looks like a camera must’ve been because it was funded by $ from the founder of the Polaroid.
yes, 10 points to mike.
I didn’t realize just how great this puzzle was until I read Amy’s wrap up, with PLUNKDOWN and BANKNOTES also fitting the theme.
Bravo, BEQ!
Cute. Felt about Thur. tough. ANNAM is new to me, on the other hand ANOA…
I’m working on my iPad on crossword titled Making Money. C2011. 13 down should read scrip and 20 across should read line your pockets but “i” in scrip and “s” in pockets won’t jive. What gives?
Anyone?
The correct character is ‘$’, which contains both the ‘I’ and the ‘S’. But their is no way to select this character on my iPhone from within the application. This particular puzzle has many glitches and I am unable to complete it. Some squares accept ANY letter, and many correct letters appear as red, indicating they are incorrect. There is clearly something wrong with this puzzle.
Now the puzzle has changed (the clues and answers are different, and the layout is even different) but the title remains the same (i.e., MAKING MONEY). And my old letters are overlayed onto the new on, even though the layouts don’t mesh. Weird. Perhaps an issue with the phone or the crossword application, but I have completed hundreds of puzzles without issue until this one, so I am clueless as to what is going on. BTW, I meant ‘there’ and not ‘their’ in my previous post.
